It’s so difficult to keep my expectation from going through the roof for the season 2 of Wu Xin: The Monster Killer. I dedicated my very first post to Gu Daren, whom I have a deep and undying love for. While I know Wang Yan Lin is not playing the same character in the second season, until which time when I actually watch the new character in action, I will continue to see him through my beloved Gu Daren filter. In the meantime, I will try not to cry for Yueya, who is no longer with us. Sob. Sob.
Wu Xin: The Monster Killer (无心法师) is about immortal potato furry worm man, warlord, and country girl fighting immortal body snatching bride and her horde of voodoo paper dolls and zombies. Action. Romance. Comedy. A drama filled with awesome goodness.
Of all the eccentric characters littering the show’s landscape, Gu daren is by far the funniest of them all. Gu daren aka Gu Xuan Wu is the most shameless, persistent, comedic warlord in the 1900s China. Without him, Wuxin would just be another immortal dude who likes to take his shirt off, Li Yueya would be the 6th wife of 65 year-old man, and Yue Qiruo would still be the sleeping beauty in her customized tomb, and the world wouldn’t know the proper way of being a lovable show off who runs his mouth.
